Petra von Kants bittra tårar (Petra von Kant’s Bitter Tears)
Stockholms stadsteater

Sagateatern
The jury’s motivation: Rainer Werner von Fassbinder’s drama is known mostly from the film but was originally written for the stage. Swaddled in the sensitive direction provided by Hugo Hansén, Pia Johansson finds room for her whole theatrical register in her portrayal of the title role. She is well matched by the silent mimicry of Jessica Liedberg who plays her oppressed assistant. This is exemplary actor’s theatre and was one of Stockholm Stadsteatern’s biggest box office draws.
