The jury’s motivation: Dumbstruck. By life, by love, fear, loneliness… Teater Västernorrland touches directly our most sensitive spots as they wrestle with the basic questions of being. Young or old, with or without handicap, it’s a question of human value and it concerns us all. Sassy and unsentimental, this production touches us deeply and places us eye to eye with our own values.

Svårast är det med de värdelösa is a philosophical farce focusing on exclusion, disability and human values. We follow wheelchair bound Hedwig and her involuntary personal aide Måns in their fight for respect, love, intimacy, freedom and independence. Hedvig is planning to ruin her mother’s wedding by throwing rotten wedding cake in her face. But she needs to convince Måns to deliver the fatal blow. Måns needs to decide if he really must agree to kiss Hedwig. Is being loved a universal human right? Or is love a universal human responsibility?
